Tarptautinė olimpinių medicinos darbuotojų asociacija skatina įvairių šalių medicinos darbuotojų keitimąsi profesiniu patyrimu, teikia medicinos pagalbą sportininkams olimpinėse žaidynėse, mezga ryšius tarp olimpinių komandų gydytojų, rengia kongresus, susitikimus, spausdina mokslo darbus. Oficialioji kalba – anglų. Aukščiausiasis organas – kongresas, šaukiamas kas 4 metai.
